The one-step process for creating z-bends
Hu-Friedy Step Pliers allow clinicians to easily create z-bends (bayonet bends) in one, simple step by using a gentle squeeze of the pliers handle.
Z-bends created by step pliers help a clinician to extrude or intrude a specific tooth or teeth. The bend can also change a tooth’s inclination and/or rotation.
Step pliers, also called detailing pliers or bayonet bending pliers, are best used extraorally on wire up to .022” x 0.25” (.53mm x .64mm). The pliers’ double-sided offset beaks create a right-hand or left-hand step-up or step-down in wire at ½ mm, ¾ mm or 1 mm intervals.
Our Step Pliers are crafted with Immunity Steel® alloy, a high-quality surgical grade stainless steel, to ensure strength and corrosion resistance for a more effective treatment. We recommend steam sterilisation.
The new Step Pliers are available in 3 different sizes: 1/2 mm, 3/4 mm and 1 mm.
